Isham R. Westberry Buried On Monday. Isham R. Westberry, 74,
died Saturday morning at his home after a short illness. He was
a native of Wayne County. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m.
Monday at the Old bethel Baptist Church with the Rev. Emory Rozier
and Rev. J. E. Blanton officiating. He is survived by four daughters,
Mrs. Marie Albury, Naranja, Fla., Mrs. Maida Ogden, Miami, Fla.,
Mrs. Wretha Hope, Jesup and Mrs. Blanche Rizzieri of Long Island,
N.Y.; two sons, Gordon Westberry of Odum and Bennie Westberry
of Jesup; 10 grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Ralph Reddish of
Jesup; one brother, Bertie Westberry of St. Petersburg, Fla.
Pallbearers were Lester Reddish, Ernest Roberson, H. H. Jones,
Vernon Pye, dick Jones and David Griffis. Burial was in the church
cemetery under the direction of the NeSmith Funeral Home.

Mrs. W. Westberry Buried Tuesday. Mrs. Willar Collins Westberry,
76, died early Monday morning at her home after a long illness.
A native of Raleigh, N.C., she had lived most of her life in
Wayne County. She was a member of the Old Bethel Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Old Bethel
Baptist Church with the Rev. Emory Rozier and Rev. J. E. Blanton
officiating. She is survived by her husband, Isham Westberry,
Jesup; four daughters, Mrs. Marie Albury, Naranja, Fla.; Mrs.
Maida Ogden, Miami, Fla.; Mrs. Wretha Hope, Jesup and Mrs. Blanche
Rizzieri, Long Island, N.Y.; one brother, Jim Collins, Screven;
10 grandchildren. Pallbearers were Hulon Collins, Bill Collins,
Kelly Collins, Herschel Collins, Jim Collins and L. A. Collins.
Burial was in the church cemetery under the direction of the
NeSmith Funeral Home.

Last Rites Friday For J. A. Westberry Accident Victim. Last rites
for James Aubrey Westberry, 23, young Jesup veteran of the Air
Corps, who was killed Wednesday afternoon near Odum when a truck
he was driving overturned, will be conducted tomorrow, Friday
afternoon at 4 oclock at the Old Bethel Baptist Church.
Rev. Beal of Millwood will officiate. The deceased had a large
number of friends over this entire community who were shocked
to learn of his tragic passing. The accident occurred when he
attempted to make a cross-roads turn. The victim was born and
reared in Wayne County, with the exception of about two years
in the U. S. Army Air Corps, a good part of which was overseas
in the European Theatre. He received his honorable discharge
about six months ago. Survivors include his father, Isham Westberry;
his mother, Mrs. Willar Collins Westberry of Jesup; four sisters,
Mrs. Marie Albury of Naranja, Fla.; Mrs. Mada Ogden of Jesup;
Mrs. Wretha Bell Ogden of Odum; and Miss Blanche Westberry of
New York City; two brothers, Gordon Westberry of Odum and Bennie
Westberry of Jesup.
Headstone shows: Georgia, CPL. 84 AAF SUP. SQ. Pfc. US Army
in 1945 and in Italy.

Westberry-Ogden - Much interest surrounds the marriage of Miss
Mada Westberry, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Isham Westberry, of Odum,
to Mr. Roy Ogden, son of Dr. D. H. Ogden, of Odum, which was quietly
solemnized Wednesday afternoon, Aug. 11th, at the home of Rev.
and Mrs. C. F. Burke, with Rev. Burke performing the ceremony
in the presence of a very few friends. Immediately after the
ceremony the young couple left by motor for a short wedding trip.
Mr. Ogden and his bride will be at home with their many friends

Ellison Ogden Buried Tuesday. Ellison E. Ogden, 69, died early
Monday morning in the St. Vincent's Hospital in Jacksonville,
Florida, after a short illness. The Wayne County native had lived
in Jacksonville for the past eight years. Funeral services were
held at 4 p.m. Tuesday in the Old Bethel Baptist Church with the
Rev. Edward Graham and the Rev. Fred McLendon officiating. He
is survived by his wife, Mrs. Maida Westberry Ogden of Jacksonville;
two sisters, Mrs. Ella Barks of Plymouth, Fla. and Mrs. Maude
Williamson of Jesup; a brother, Felton Ogden of Trion and several
nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Irvin Ogden, William Ogden,
Kenny Crump, Hansel Clark, Jack Sullivan and Woodrow Ogden. Burial
was in the Old Bethel Cemetery under the direction of the NeSmith-Harrison

Miss Willar Blanche Westberry, formerly of Jesup, who has been
spending some time in Brunswick working in the engineering production
department of the J. A. Jones Company, Brunswick yard, left last
Tuesday for New York City to enlist in the U. S. Waves. Miss
Westberry was honored last Monday evening at a dinner party given
at the Oglethorpe Hotel by a number of her co-workers. The dinner,
served in the "blue room" was presided over by Mrs.
Perry Hadsock and the twenty guests present presented Miss Westberry
an identification bracelet.

Miss Westberry Reports to Waves - Madison, Wis., Mar. 30 - One
of Jesup, Georgia's women "serving in Navy blue," Willar
B. Westberry, 20, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Isham Westberry, reported
to the Naval Training School for WAVES radio operators at the
University of Wisconsin here Monday to begin a 16-week course
in sending and receiving code messages. Upon completing the course
she will be assigned to duty at a Naval Shore Station within the
United States and may be promoted to a third class petty officer
rating. Having completed a five-week indoctrination course at
the WAVES Training School at Hunter College, the Bronx, New York
City, she is now enrolled in the regular Navy course given to
men radiomen. Her curriculum will include learning to maintain
and care for radio batteries, enciphering and deciphering code
messages, and adjusting and repairing radio direction finders
and sound equipment. WAVES stationed here are given full use
of the University's athletic and recreational facilities.

Miss Westberry Transferred To Rhode Island. Willar B. Westberry,
Specialist (Photography) 2nd Class WAVES USNR, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Isham Westberry, 258 Elm Street, in Jesup, has been transferred
to duty at the Atlantic Fleets Naval Training Station, New
Port, Rhode Island, where she is attached to the Office of Public
Information. Miss Westberry graduated from Odum High School in
1940 and attended Georgia State Teachers College in Statesboro,
Ga. She entered the Navy in December 1942 after being employed
as a draftsman for the Jones Construction Company in Brunswick.
She is stationed at Glynco, Ga. in the headquarters of the 6th
Naval District at Charleston, S. C. Two brothers are in the Army,
Cpl. Bennie Westberry, in England and Pfc. James Westberry, in
